I am a personal user of HP Officejet Pro 86700 e-All-in-One printer-N911.  HP sent Critical Driver Update 28.1.13112_1 which I downloaded but have not installed as yet.  My printer has USB connection.  Update requires an ethernet cable, which I've ordered.  However, all of a sudden, the panel on my printer is asking for a proxy address.  I have no idea what/where to find and it's never occurred before.  Any suggestions?  P.S.  I'm not a technical user, so please use simple language if possible.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Could you please share the picture of the error message?

While you respond to that, let's reset the printer's network settings:-

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Per request from Echo_Lake, HP Support Agent, attached are pictures showing this "error."

As suggested, I also reset the Network settings on the printer.   After submitting this inquiry the other day, I had turned the printer off.  The next day, this indication had disappeared.Printer-Proxy .jpgPrinter-Proxy2.jpg

@JoanB75

Thank you for posting back.

As you've mentioned the error had disappeared after performing steps.

Is everything working fine, or would you require any further assistance?

Keep me posted!
