Hello

I bought a second hand HP printer, the Smart Tank Plus 555 model.

I am trying to update the firmware and other Advanced Settings, but it is telling me that there is a custom password set for the admin user.

I have asked the person I purchased the printer from, but they cannnot recall the password.

I have checked on line and on HP forum and have tried many variations of the suggested default passwords, but nothing is working.

Is it possible to over-ride and reset the password?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
 

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, 

I understand the printer is locked with an administrator password and you would like to reset the printer to defaults.
 

Let's try this:

While holding the power button, press and hold the black copy button and the resume button at the same time until the spinning wheel appears on the display.
