Hello. I am simply trying to save the network folder location of the 'Default' option within 'Scan to Network Folder'. However, when I select it (currently a Local contact within my Address Book) and do a successful scan, this location immediately resets back to 'Select Network Folder'. How do I force this location to save between scan jobs?
The first image below shows the menu-screen where I can't save the network folder. Note that the second image represents a Quickset with the destination that I want to use for the Default option in the first image (this destination is also the same one that I created as a Local contact in the Address Book).
Please help!
How do I save the Default destination?
I want to use this destination

It seems logical that "Default Job Options" might include a path.
In so much that I have found,
There is not a setting to change / edit / create a path in
Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Default Job Options
In the context of Quick Sets and Scan to Network Profile(s),
Each Quick Set is a separate entity - that is:
Each Quick Set contains the destination for that Quick Set
In the example below, three Quick Sets are listed -
Each Quick Set includes it's own Destination setup.
Sample Quick Sets as listed in the sample:
- One Drive - HP Smart - Save Image > Local OneDrive Account mapped as a Folder in the user's own account
- Dragon Data > NAS Storage Device on the local network
- Tests Folder > Local Folder in the user's own account on the computer
The first example illustrates how to set up a Quick Set > Network Folder for a local OneDrive account and sub-folder.
The second example is a break down on the Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Default Job Options setup

As a follow-up to my own post, it's my understanding that somewhere in the below printer-menu I should be able to save the default save-folder path, but as you can see this option isn't there. Any ideas where I would set it?

Creating a shortcut with the destination you want is typically how this is handled.

First off, many thanks to Dragon-Fur and Repairatrooper for taking time out to respond to my post.
This issue is still a bit puzzling as one would think the Default scan-to-network-folder option would also allow for a default save-folder. While I do vaguely recall that a year or so back there was a different interface for the printer's setup page which did allow for this, going forward I believe the best option is to use HP Scan.

You are most welcome.
Update / Edits - Add examples for HP Smart - Shortcuts
The EWS format on this and other select printers is indeed different from what it was.
In addition to the move to "Quick Sets" (Profiles), support and control has been added to the embedded printer security.
Plus...
Both HP Scan / HP Universal Scan support many of the same processes as were supported by the "older" HP Scan, including the concept of Custom Shortcuts and preferred settings.
HP Scan / HP Universal Scan -- part of the full solution software -- have also been updated and reformatted.
"New" HP Scan / HP Universal Scan provide a more interactive experience.
Both programs have been formatted to better support using the software in very high resolution (computer) screens.
What else?
HP Smart supports Shortcuts designed for use with the application.
Shortcuts can (should) be created ahead of time (before needed) to complete tasks without the user having to edit / add certain information each time the task is run.
Shortcuts can be created / edited to complete certain tasks.
For example,
- Create a Shortcut to Print in Duplex (2-sided)
- Create a Shortcut to Email to a list one or more recipients
- Create a Shortcut to Save content to one of the Supported Cloud accounts as the selected file type
and
If HP+ service / contract is enabled OR your printer is one of the few non-HP+ supported printers
- Save content as one of the premium content types (for Editable PDF, Word, or Text).
Shortcuts cannot be "changed on the fly" -- for example, if a Shortcut is written to Save to a particular location or Email to one or more recipients, the destinations cannot be edited when the Shortcut is called to be used.
How it works...
For example,
When HP Smart is used to Scan content, the task can be completed using a Shortcut designed for a particular action.
"Next Actions" might include Save to a supported Cloud account, Print, or Email
Example - HP Smart - Shortcuts - Save to Cloud Account - OneDrive > Sub-Folder
HP_Smart_Shortcuts_Cloud_Save_PDF_9
Example - HP Smart - Shortcuts - Create / Edit and Execute (Email to one or more recipients)
HP_Smart_Shortcuts_Create-Edit-Execute_4
