I updated my HP printer according to the request from it. Since then, Print to Network Folder has stopped working where it was totally fine before.  I have (a) rebooted both printer and computer, (b) run Test and also Edit from the printer set-up page on the computer under Network Folder Set-up on the printer's web page.  Both of these end with "A problem occurred during the test. Click "Edit" to check your settings, and then try again. For more information, visit www.hp.com/support."

The Printer still works for Print and I can scan from the computer using the HP Scan shortcut on my desktop, but I cannot stand at the printer and send a scan to the network folder.

The printer is running the latest s/w version - can't find this but it updated on about 11th April 19, the firware is FDP1CN1910AR

This looks as if the latest s/w update broke the Scan to Network Folder function.

Can anyone assist please?

Welcome to HP support community.

Run the Print and Scan Doctor

Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor  to automatically diagnose and resolve printer hardware and connection issues.

After the Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Fix Scanning to test your scanner, and then follow any instructions to resolve the issue.

Try to scan.

Check Windows Image Acquisition settings

  1. In Windows, search for and open View local services.

  2. In the Services window, scroll down the list and find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

  3. Look at the Status and Startup Type values.

    • If the status is Started or Running and the Startup Type is Automatic, WIA is running correctly. Skip to the next step.

Making sure WIA Status is Running and Startup Type is Automatic

    • If the status is Disabled or no status displays, right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), click Properties, click the General tab, select Automatic from the Startup type dropdown menu, and then click Start.

If the Start button is grayed out, go back to the Services menu, make sure Remote Procedure Call, Shell Hardware Detection, RPC Endpoint Mapper, and DCOM Server Process Launcher are running and set as Automatic, and then start WIA.

    • Try to scan.

If the issue persists, set up Scan to Network Folder from the printer software again.

1. Open the HP printer software.

2. Go to the Scan section under Print, Scan & Fax, and then double-click Scan to Network Folder Wizard.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks Sandytechy20.  I think this has worked, at least for now, but the utility is a little confusing.

HP Print and Scan Doctor refuses to go past stage 1 but seems to have fixed the problem.  It found the printer OK, then said "communicating with printer", got to 100% progress bar, then reverted back to click "Next" for Stage 1 again, not "done" or "finished" or "Step 2", and did not report any errors.

Anyway I tried the Scan to Netwok Folder again and it worked.

WIA was running OK before this.

Thanks
