I can print just fine via USB.  The copier works perfectly, but none of my scanning software can find this machine.

I tried the usual.  Disconnect printer, reboot PC.  Reset printing system.   Any ideas?

I understand your HP LaserJet 1220 scanner not being detected by your computer. Let’s go through a few checks.

Verify USB scanning support

Confirm the USB cable is connected directly between the printer and computer.

Avoid USB hubs or adapters during testing.

Power the printer on before starting the computer.

Try a different USB port on the computer.

Check Device Manager (Windows) to confirm the imaging device appears.

Install correct scanning drivers

Remove the existing printer software from the computer.

Restart the computer.

Install the HP LaserJet 1220 full feature software or compatible TWAIN/WIA drivers.

Connect the USB cable only when prompted during installation.

Restart the computer after installation completes.

Check Windows scanning services

Open Services on the computer.

Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

Ensure the service status is Running.

Set Startup type to Automatic.

Retry scanning from the scanning application.

Test scan functionality

Place a document on the scanner glass.

Open the operating system’s built-in scan utility.

Select the HP LaserJet 1220 scanner device.

Perform a preview scan.

Complete a test scan to confirm operation.

I am running Mac OS.  Vuescan has a windows driver but not a Mac driver
