Hi @ZAMOK_1995,

I read this post. Please get the black cartridge also. It will help. But try to install the same drivers that are being used on this computer on the other computer if it runs Windows 10 only. If it runs Windows 7, then install Windows 7 compatible drivers as Windows 7 drivers will not work for Windows 10 and vice-versa.  Just ordering another black cartridge might fix the issue.

If you still have any issues then contact HP phone support for further assistance in this regard,

  • Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
  • Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Hi @ZAMOK_1995,

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you.  I reviewed the post regarding issues with print quality after a windows 10 update I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you make copies directly from the printer and check?
  • Did you change ink cartridges and check if it gets resolved?

For now, try these steps:

  • Make 2 copies in black containing text and images directly from the printer without any communication from the computer.

Now check if it copies correctly. If it copies correctly uninstall and reinstall the printer software by following these steps:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer, if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Photosmart printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Then download the latest full feature driver from http://hp.care/2x9cn5R and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
  • Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
  • This should fix the issue.
  •
  • If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2o3acvH

If it fails to copy correctly, try all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2Cv4UOr (HP Deskjet F4100 All-in-One Series - Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors)

  • Now check if the issue gets fixed. If it continues, then you need to replace ink cartridges both black and color and this should fix the issue as long as the printer’s hardware is not faulty. Contact HP phone support via this link: http://hp.care/2moMFSc  and follow the on-screen instructions to do so.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a terrific week ahead. 🙂

I did all you said. Copies from printer are making correctly. But printing from computer still without black color. I haven't black cartridge and tried to work in single cartridge mode with only color cartridge. Anyway, thanks, I'll buy black cartridge soon and then everything will be OK, I hope.

Hi @ZAMOK_1995,

I reviewed the post. Thanks for the super quick reply. You've shown terrific patience, immense commitment and smart technical skills to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for a job well done, 🙂

Please try to install the printer on a different Windows 10 computer if possible and check if it prints in black correctly.

If it does, then the operating system on your computer might be the culprit. Backup all your important data and perform a Microsoft push-button reset from this link: http://hp.care/2g0Tjzs; to reset Windows to factory settings without causing data loss.

Then reinstall the printer and check if it works correctly.  If it does not then buy the black cartridge and that should resolve the issue for you.

Now trust me, I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. I hope thing pan out great for you. It has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you and a great experience to have worked with you. 🙂

Other computer shows same trouble. I tried to install old driver that was installed on computer with W7, but it can't be installed on this OS.
So, I think it is problem with driver. It thinks that black cartridge is installed while it isn't.
