New set up.  Printer does not recognize the black print head installation.  I've removed and reseated this print head several times.  Cannot perform print alignment or move past setup.

@TAP-55,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

  • Power off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer cover and remove the print head (both black and color).
  • Inspect the black print head for any visible damage or blockages (e.g., dried ink).
  • Clean the print head contacts (the small gold or metal areas on the print head) using a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Check the printer's contacts where the print head is installed for dirt or debris. Gently clean them if necessary.
  • Reinstall the black print head securely into its slot. Make sure it clicks into place.
  • Ensure the ink tank is properly seated in the black print head.
  • Plug the printer back in and power it on.
  • Check the display to see if it now recognizes the black print head. If not, try the following:
    • Try a different black print head (if available) to rule out a defective print head.
    • Reset the printer to factory settings (refer to the printer manual).

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
