Hi everyone, I'm experiencing an annoying problem with my HP Smart Tank 7000 printer.

The printer supports the duplex and I set it in my applications settings (I tried with evince, Adobe reader, libreoffice, firefox, whatever).

The problem is that the file is printed on both sides, but the second side is flipped. I always toggle the flag "flip on the long side", but I've made a try on "flip on the short side" and the result is the same.

In the printer settings I don't see any option that forces the short side instead of the long one.

Same behavior on laptop, desktop (both Linux and Windows) or android. Idk, I have no more ideas.

Anyone has experienced the same problem as mine?

@asbruff, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Update Printer Driver

Make sure your printer drivers are up-to-date from HP’s website.

Check Printer Settings

Go to Printer Preferences when printing.

Ensure Duplex Printing is enabled.

Set Flip on Long Edge (for portrait) and check if it fixes the issue.

Test Different Applications

Try printing a simple document from different programs like Adobe Reader or LibreOffice.

Double-check print settings in each app.

Update Printer Firmware

Check for any firmware updates on HP’s website.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Hi Garp, thank you for your answer. Unfortunately it's a prefilled answer, so it didn't solved my problem.

- "Drivers" are up to date, as I'm a Linux users and I'm using the last hplip version.

- As I described in my post I try to print with different software and different settings. None of them gets me to print duplex as it should be.

- I've posted another request asking for help because the printer can't reach the internet, so i can't update the firmware.

Thank you for a reply.

Hi @asbruff,

Thank you for your response

It seems like you’ve already gone through some of the basic steps, but let’s try to dig a bit deeper into troubleshooting. Below are additional steps you can take to resolve the duplex printing issue:

Check Printer Configuration from the Printer's Web Interface (If Possible)

If your printer is connected to the network but can’t access the internet for firmware updates, it may still have a web-based configuration page that you can access through a browser.

  • Find the printer’s IP address (you can check this from the printer’s settings or print a network configuration page).
  • Type the IP address into your web browser’s address bar. This should bring up the printer’s web interface.
  • From there, check the Duplex Printing settings to see if any options are available for adjusting the orientation or print behavior.

Print a Test Page from the Printer's Control Panel

Sometimes, printing a test page directly from the printer’s control panel can help confirm whether the issue lies with the software or the printer itself.

Go to the Printer’s Control Panel and look for an option to print a test page or configuration page.

If the test page prints correctly (with correct duplex printing), then the issue might be software/configuration-related on your computer.

Ok Garp, you don't seem to know the smart tank 7000 web settings very well.

There's nowhere in that interface I could find "duplex printing". Therefore I really cannot configure it.

Also any of the printer's test pages are one page only... it prints one side and stop.

Any other try?

The printer with its default settings is not working properly and I have to pay for the support?
