HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer

I have 2 printers - Officejet Pro 6970 and Officejet 4650.  With the new HP Smart app, I cannot get two-sided printing to work when either printer is selected.  I configure two-sided printing when I send the print job to printer called "HP Smart Printing".  Then after I'm prompted to select the actual printer, the document prints one-sided.  This is every time on both printers.

Is there a trick to getting 2-sided printing to work with the HP Smart app?  Two-sided printing worked on both printers before this app was installed on my laptop.

Hi @embren,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that two sided printing is not working using HP Smart app.

Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall HP Smart App:

Step 1: Uninstall HP Smart App.

1. Navigate to and open Settings

2. Select Apps or Application Manager from the device Settings

3. Select HP Smart

4. Select Uninstall

Step 2: Reinstall HP Smart App.

1. Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS),

or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows),

or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac).

2. Open the HP Smart app.

3. The app searches for recently installed printers.

- If your printer displays, click it. If you are setting up a new printer, it might display with Set-Up under the name.

- If your printer does not display, click the Plus sign, and then follow the on-screen prompts to add your printer or set up a new printer.

Because it was awhile before I heard from anyone, I did more troubleshooting myself.  I found that if I set the two-sided printing as a preference on the HP Smart Printing "device", the two-sided printing worked on both of my printers.  If I don't want two-sided printing on a particular print job, then I turn it off when I send the print job to HP Smart Printing.  Then it is set when I select the printer.

No need to re-install the HP Smart app on my laptop.
