Has anyone had trouble after updating the latest driver for HP DeskJet Pro 9130e Series for their 9135e printer? After downloading the latest driver from HP Smart App that came to my computer, I can no longer print booklet printing. HP techs have not been able to get it to work either. I think that the updated driver is either corrupt or is a bad update. No matter what I or the Techs have tried, this driver will not print a booklet 8.5 X !1 document with 2 pieces of paper and 4 pages. These pages in booklet form should print page 4 and 1 and then duplex on the short edge pages 2 and 3. Booklet printing is not even an option with this driver and you can change all the settings and it will still not print correctly. Twice we were able to get it to show booklet printing Booklet Half-Side, only the only page size it would allow was 11 X 17. This printer can't print 11 X 17. I wanted my old driver back, but the Techs couldn't get it back. Has anyone else had this to happen and did you find a solution to fix it. It is this updated driver that is the problem.

I'm not sure what I can offer that HP Support has not already covered.

The following might be helpful or an unfortunate repeat of what you have already tried.

The printer is certainly capable of printing in Booklet format.

HP Smart (Windows) can, using a PDF file, print Booklet as can Adobe Reader.

=============================================================

HP Smart Application - Windows - Version 161.1.1087.0

I cannot help with printing Booklet using 2 sheets of paper for 4 pages.

I can provide examples of methods that work to print Booklet style using 1 sheet of paper and 4 pages.

Reminders

Any method used to print Booklet from within Word requires that you have installed the full driver printer software.

PDF format printing does not require the full driver printer software though a side implication is that at some point the document structure was Exported from an original Word or other "Word-ish" document creator / editor.

Use of Adobe Reader and the HP Smart Printing queue implies having installed the full driver printer software.

In all examples,

The printer is aware of the paper size / type (Tray and Paper), and that Printer Properties > Advanced > Driver = an HP driver and not an IPP / Microsoft driver.

Basics

  • Load into the printer the "Letter" (8.5" X 11") size, plain paper you want to use.
  • Alert the printer to the Paper Size / Type - Tray and Paper
  • Have ready a document, Exported to PDF format if you want to use HP Smart app, that was structured (in the Original Word / Word-like software) to include the appropriate margins (no smaller than what the printer can support).
  • If not done install HP Smart  --

    The app is available in the Microsoft Store / 123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

  • If not done and required for the type of Booklet print method, install the Full Feature / full driver printer software.   Scroll down to "Printer Software" for basic instructions to install the full driver printer software.

=============================

Load Paper / Load Media

Load the paper into Tray 1 or Tray 2 (both trays support standard "Letter" sized, plain paper)

For your security, some settings in the EWS are password-protected.
If prompted for a password, enter the default printer PIN available on the label inside the printer access door.
If you have changed the password, enter your new password

=============================

EWS - Tray and Paper

Tray and Paper – Paper Size / Paper Type / Paper Weight

Paper Size, Type, and Weight loaded in the printer tray must be supported for use in that tray.

EWS (Embedded Web Server) provides access and control for Settings, including Tray and Paper.

Reminders

HP Smart / HP App Mobile might require that paper size / type is rechecked / adjusted before the content is opened for print.

Depending on the printer model, the Printer Control Panel touchscreen might provide access to Paper Size / Type settings immediately after the paper is (re)loaded into the appropriate printer intake tray.

Newer printer?  Touchscreen Printer Control Panel locked against making changes?  Try username "admin" and the PIN located on the sticker on the inside of the front door of the printer.
