HP Deskjet 9800 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have repeated installed printer and automatic duplex printing works just fine, excepts it flips ONLY on short side even when flip long is checked. It is connected on USB001 Port, RAW Date Format; with print processor hpzpplhn; Driver Name HP Deskjet 9800 Printer Type 3 - User More Driver Version 6.0.6000.55555.  One time the Window Printer Test Page listed 20 Add'l Print Driver Files and after another install there were 22 Files. Printer is connected directly to Dell XPS, not through hub.

No matter what is checked, shown in image, or ... it only duplex prints flip short side.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Let me know if this helps.

I followed your instructions exactly and the RESULTS worked!  Bravo Betty0610. In my Windows search on computer for HP Printer nothing was there. In downloads I had HPPSdr.exe File PsDR-5.5.2.006-HPPSdr which I removed. Later after printui.exe /s under Drivers I had two choices Remove driver only or Remove driver and driver package (hphpabijvst4wu.inf(x64). I removed driver only. Later at c:/programdata I had only HP folder with three items (PDSMQ, SoftPaq, Temp) which I removed.

After that I downloaded and installed software as directed with all the setup items. When I printed off the Windows Printer Test Page I got EXACTLY the same sheet with 22 Additional Print Driver Files as yesterday. I thought "Hmmm" and printed a two page document automatically set for Duplex Long-Side Printing. To my amazement and JOY it printed properly!!!! Oh Joy.  This 80 year old Texan who barely recalls Fortran and Cobol was able to follow your directions.

Kudos and Peace. Stay safe in this Covid-19 world.

Hello.

I have the same issue after performing a root install of my HP 8610.  I do not want to proceed with your solution, as I am not sure it pertains to my printer.

Please let me know if it does or does not.  and if so, please let me know what drivers i'm supposed to install.

thanks
