HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdw Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I don't want to spool my printer outputs from my desktop to my LaserJet Pro. 99% of the time, I am the only one printing. The other 1% of the time are other family members.

My desktop computer and my Laserjet Pro are hardwired together as part of my home network using Cat 6 cables.

I have gone into my driver in an attempt to disable the spooling feature, but that entire page is grayed out. One suggestion on the internet was to stop the Print Spooler in Services.MSC. I tried that, but then MS-Word couldn't find a printer attached to the driver.

I have not needed or used a print spooler since 1986 when I was using a Honeywell DPS-6.

I simply want my print project to immediately start printing.

What's the answer?? What am I overlooking??

Thanks in advance

Dale

What driver are you using? If you are using a V4 driver, you cannot bypass spooler as that functionality is disabled. Blame Microsoft not HP. If you use a traditional V3 driver you would be able to select "print direct".  HP does offer a V3 version of the HP Smart Universal Printer Driver so that is what you should have installed. Failing that, the older HP Universal Printer Driver is V3 but I am not honestly sure about support for the newer 4300 series printers.
