I have pretty well gone over all issues we are having when we upgraded our Windows 8 machines to Windows 10. We have a Scanjet 500 plotter that was working great until the upgrade. I have been to the Microsoft webpages and read all on the HP webpages about this issue and there has been some success with others. There isn't much success for us as I loaded a old machine back up with Windows 7 and downloaded the Win 7 drivers from HP and turned the machine into a print server over the network. I am a very small company so just throwing away a perfectly good printer because the manufacturer won't support it is not a thing I want to do.
I have tried windows 7, 8, and 8.1 drivers on the Windows 10 machines. I tried to connect the printer through both USB and the network card. I can get a test page printed but that's as far as it goes. I tried all versions of Scanjet drivers including T500 and 510. The print program will see the printer but it errors when trying to print.
I would like to get this printer back on the network and get that old Windows 7 machine off my network but until I find a good solution this is how we have to print.
I have read where some with a GL/2 card have been able to communicate with Windows 10. I hate throwing good money after bad and we don't have a GL/2 card and haven't needed one.
Can anyone tell me for sure if a GL/2 card will resolve the Win 10 issue?
I am open to any suggestions but I pretty well have been trying everything I've read in the last few weeks.
