Let me add - in checking the device manager it shows the C4795 driver as installed. Should this be? Also in my task manager it lists the installation program as HP Installer Setup (32 bit). As mentioned, I have a 64 bit machine. Should that matter?

Well, I went ahead and deleted the printer driver entirely and went back to the installation software. Voila!! It installed beautifully and the printer is now connected to the network and all is right with the world. Bernard42, thank you!!

         Hello gareneau?

You only had 2 names of your printer, because you did not check everything in the registry, as in the attached photo :

Il fallait tout côcher dans la base de registre.jpg

You had to tick:

Keys, Values, Data, and Whole Word .

That's why it malfunctioned. It took 45 minutes to delete them all.

The main thing is that everything is working now.

Thank you for the encouragements.

                                    Excellent Day.

Bernard42,

Just because I'm curious and in regards to this:

You had to tick:

Keys, Values, Data, and Whole Word . That's why it malfunctioned. It took 45 minutes to delete them all. The main thing is that everything is working now.

When I went to the registry and searched for the name of my printer, only two entries were selected which I erased. That process took a few minutes at most.  IF I had ticked keys, values, data and whole word, it might then have taken 45 minutes, I don't know.

In any event, is there any benefit from going back and ticking off those parameters? I likely won't since everything seems to be working well, but I'm curious.

         Hello gareneau

No, it is not useful to return to the registry to check or uncheck anything. The notches are useful when you are looking for a peripheral or other. You specify where you want to look for it. That's why I wrote to you, if you had checked everything you would have had at least 45 minutes. And that's what had to be done, to respect the tutorial and succeed in the procedure.
