Hi @Keith210,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
After installing macOS Sonoma on your MacBook Pro, if you see a big? icon where the HP OfficeJet icon should be, it typically indicates that macOS can't find the HP printer driver or that it's not compatible with the new macOS version. Here's what you can do to resolve the issue:
1. Update HP Printer Drivers
Check for Updates:
- Go to the HP Support website and search for your HP OfficeJet printer model.
- Download and install the latest macOS drivers for your printer.
Use the HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
- Follow the setup instructions to add and manage your printer.
2. Re-add the Printer
- Remove and Re-add Printer:
- Open System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP OfficeJet printer from the list and click the - (minus) button to remove it.
- Click the + (plus) button to add a printer.
- Wait for macOS to detect your printer and then select it from the list.
- macOS should automatically install the appropriate driver if available.
3. Reset the Printing System
- Resetting the Printing System:
- Open System Preferences and go to Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and choose Reset printing system.
- Confirm the reset and then re-add your printer by clicking the + button.
4. Install Printer Driver Manually
- Install a Driver from HP:
- If the HP website doesn't have updated drivers, you can try using the built-in macOS printer drivers.
- Open System Preferences, go to Printers & Scanners and click the + button.
- Select your HP OfficeJet printer and let macOS install the generic or HP-provided driver.
5. Check for macOS Updates
- Ensure macOS is Up-to-Date:
- Go to System Preferences > Software Update to check for any macOS updates that might resolve compatibility issues.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact HP Support for assistance,
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
