envy 4500 won't print with WiFi turned off

My HP Envy 4500 printer works fine on WiFi, but not at all through its USB cable. (I want USB for the  security of personal data.)  I've powered everything down, reconnected the cables, and installed the latest software from HP Smart. I've tested the USB port with other devices.  What can I do?

I've seen the advice to fresh start without the USB cable inserted, but I've lost the CD that came when it was new.  How can I initiate that fresh start?

Thank you, Biker.  I looked at that YouTube, and it shows setup pages, like Maintenance, that I don't have on the little screen on my printer.  Probably earlier or later production.

you have to press some buttons back and forth to get the engineering menu.   It is like a secret handshake.

Success!  My first HP Support Community question after maintaining Apple devices myself for 15 years.

The YouTube was easy to follow, and then I did indeed print with WiFi off.  That means I have a record of a ton of sensitive data that I had typed into a secure thumb drive.  It had been trapped.

Thanks for answering, Sosia.  The problem was I could not print through USB alone, and this problem is marked solved now.
