@Traveller64, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better, what model printer are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

It could be that the servers were not responding. Try again or use a different web browser.

Make sure the Windows is up to date.

Click here to download and know more about the HP Smart app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am using a brand new (recently bought) HP Envy 6230.

I have installed the printer. It connects to the WiFi and I have installed the HP Smart App & it recognises the printer. I can print but not scan.

 The printer is on and noted on HP Smart as active but when I select Scanning I get this

@Traveller64

Use the HP Scan Extended app to scan and check if that helps.

Click here to download the app.

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let me know how it goes.

Do I have to buy this software?

@Traveller64

No, you don't have to purchase it. Kindly open the link in Internet Explorer or Edge browser and check if that helps.

Let me know how it goes.
