The printer goes into sleep mode and won't wake up until I unplug and replug to reboot. The printer screen goes black and won't respond to touch. If I send a document from my computer to print while it is in sleep mode, the doc sits in the queue with "error" next to it. I went into settings and the only option I can find is to delay sleep mode for 15 minutes. Is there a way to shut off sleep mode?

Sleep Mode is adjustable but not something you can switch off.

Manage Power - Page 190

One of the things that might be happening:

If the printer is connected to a surge protector, the printer might not be able to draw enough power to wake when it's time to do so. If the printer is plugged into a surge protector, plug the printer into the wall outlet and check for any difference.

Less likely, but possible, the wall outlet might not be providing enough clean power to wake the printer.

Finally, if the printer is plugged into a Battery backup / power conditioner, it might not be able to draw the power it needs.

It is possible there is something else going on - in fact, it is likely the root of the problem lies elsewhere...

One more idea:

Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly

Good to know - Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Power Management

If the printer is in Warranty and you cannot resolve the issue, Contact HP Support
