hi there just got this envy 5010 printer but one of the set up cartridges are missing bought 2 new hp cartridges but now we are stuck

If you're encountering a "missing setup cartridge" error on your HP Envy 5010 printer due to one of the original setup cartridges being missing, here's what you can do to resolve the issue.
Install New Cartridges: Make sure the new HP cartridges you bought are installed correctly. Sometimes, the printer may still recognize the cartridges as missing if they aren't seated properly.
Check for Original Setup Cartridges: If possible, check to see if you can obtain the original setup cartridge that came with the printer. Some printers require these specific cartridges for initial setup.
Use the New Cartridges:
- After installing the new cartridges, restart the printer to see if it recognizes them.
- If the printer still shows the missing cartridge error, try removing and reinstalling the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes updates can resolve compatibility issues with cartridges.

thanks for reply the machine was just stuck on the insert set up cartridge and whatever you did you couldnt access the start menu so it wouldnt connect by wireless. so i usb connected the printer downloaded another hp program then put the 2 cartridges form our defunct hp 4500 and while proram was open it told me cartridges were incorrect so it was connecting in some way, so took both out and put just the one set up tri colour cartridge we had in and left the black empty clicked run alignment page and it did a half page so shut it all down started it back up put the new black cartridge in we had bought clicked alignment page and it printed of perfect stuck it in scanner and all good so sorted now cheers
