Hi,

I did not find a suitable section for my question, so I landed here.

 

I have a HP-Jetdirect EX +3 (external) printserver (it has 3 parallel ports)

It worked with my Laserjet 4100 fine.

My asking: can the server work with an -additional- non-HP printer too?

(My candidate is an EpsonStylus800 inkjet printer, to be connected by parallel-port)

 

EDIT: my candidate is an EpsonStylusC62, not the 800...

And I did try: a LJ4100 to the first parallel port of the Jetdirect, the StylusC62 to the second parallel port.

I added the StylusC62 in the printermanager on my LinuxMint computer (I could only use the DHCP address of the

Jetdirect for this, it is the same as that used for the LJ4100 (same ip and same port :9100).

I started a test page (from my computer printermanager) to the StylusC62, which sadly resulted in about 60 wasted sheets of paper: output of the LJ4100 (and not the Stylus!!) with only some lines on each of strange signs/hearts a.s.o.....

So my testprintjob was for the Stylus, but printed by the LJ (the Jetdirect cannot differentiate between these two printers?)

 

Still advice needed on this
