Hi @robandsam,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 printer was previously working fine but is now printing blank pages after switching to non-HP cartridges, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Ink Levels
- Make sure the non-HP cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink. Sometimes, cartridges can be faulty or not filled correctly.
2. Remove and Reinstall Cartridges
- Remove the non-HP cartridges and reinstall them to ensure they are seated correctly.
- Check for any protective tape or plastic that may not have been removed from the cartridges before installation.
3. Perform a Print Head Cleaning
- Most printers have a maintenance option to clean the print heads. This can help clear any clogs that may be preventing ink from flowing properly.
- You can usually find this option in the printer settings or on the printer's control panel.
4. Print a Test Page
- Print a test page or a nozzle check pattern to see if any ink is coming through.
- If the test page is blank, the issue may be related to the cartridges or the print head.
5. Check for Firmware Updates
- Sometimes, printers will block non-HP cartridges due to firmware updates. Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model on the HP support website and update if necessary.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @robandsam,
Please find the next steps below.
6. Reset the Printer
- Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset any temporary issues.
7. Switch Back to HP Cartridges
- If you have access to original HP cartridges, try installing them to see if the printer resumes normal operation. This can help determine if the issue is related to the non-HP cartridges.
8. Check Printer Settings
- Ensure that the correct paper type and print quality settings are selected in your printer settings on your computer.
9. Consult the Manufacturer of the Non-HP Cartridges
- If you continue to have issues, consult the manufacturer of the non-HP cartridges. They may have specific troubleshooting steps for their products.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
