I can't print because of the 'idle' problem, but I can print test/diagnostics from the HP utility. My printer kept on showing 'idle' even after i reset everything.I've tried restarting my computer and printer, also reseting the printing system again but it's still the same.Could it be because I recently just updated to the new version of mac?

Hi @Dina_,
Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that you require assistance to make the printer work with the Mac computer as the printer is idle. I will be really glad to assist you here. 🙂
Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. )
For me to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen after a recent power outage or surge?
For now, try these steps:
- Please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2g7M2y2 for fixing printer offline issues.
- This should fix the issue.
- If that does not fix the issue then perform steps 1,2 and 3 from this link: http://hp.care/2eUgnPZ again and check if the issue gets fixed. Also, try the uninstalling and reinstalling the printer again.
- If the printer has no hardware issues it should get fixed.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
