Suddenly my laptop (HP Envy 360 windows 11) will not print any files in color.  I get a b&w preview of print as well. I have confirmed that I do NOT have grayscale checked and do not see any settings that are defaulting it to b&w.

I am not having any problem printing on the same printer from other computers in the house... just this one.

I suspect a hidden setting, but cant figure it out. I've tried uninstalling the printer and reinstalling. Power on/off both the laptop and the printer.  Nothing changes.

If I switch to a different "printer" (i.e. adobe pdf, one note, etc) it will show a color preview.

I used to use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check drivers, but can't seem to find that anymore.

HELP!

Hi @kkob0212,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It appears that there might be a software or driver issue affecting the color printing capability of your HP Envy 360 laptop. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Check Printer Preferences:

  • Open the control panel on your laptop and go to "Devices and Printers."

  • Right-click on your printer's icon and select "Printer Properties."

  • Go to the "Printing Preferences" tab and ensure that color printing is enabled.

Update or Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Go to the Official HP® Support and download the latest drivers for your printer model.

  • Uninstall the current printer driver from "Device Manager" under "Printers" or "Print queues."

  • Restart your laptop and install the new drivers you downloaded.

Check Windows Update:

  • Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date.

  • Sometimes, Windows updates include necessary printer driver updates or patches.

Change Application Settings:

  • Ensure the application you are printing from doesn't have its own print settings configured to print in black and white.

  • Check the print dialog box to verify that color printing is selected.

Perform a Printer Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

  • Wait for about a minute before plugging it back in and turning it on.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
