Hi @Nadine_E,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To troubleshoot the missing "Plain Paper Fast Draft" option from your HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:
1. Check Printer Driver Settings
- Ensure the correct driver is installed. The "Plain Paper Fast Draft" option may disappear if the printer is using a basic or generic driver.
- Download the latest full-feature printer driver from the HP Support website.
- After installation, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printer Preferences to see if the option is available.
2. Reconfigure Print Settings
- Open the document you want to print, go to File > Print.
- Select your printer and click Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Under the Paper/Quality tab, ensure Plain Paper is selected, and look for Draft Quality or Fast Draft.
- If it’s not visible, switch to the Advanced tab and manually adjust the print quality to "Fast Draft" under the Print Quality dropdown.
3. Reset Printing Defaults
- Navigate to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the HP ENVY 5055 and select Printer Properties.
- Under the Advanced tab, click on Printing Defaults and reset to default settings. This often restores missing print options.
4. Update Firmware
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Go to the HP Support site to download the latest firmware update for your printer model.
- Firmware updates often fix bugs, which could resolve missing or incorrect settings.
5. Remove and Reinstall Printer
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP ENVY 5055 and select Remove Device.
- Reinstall the printer by using HP Smart or manually adding it again, and ensure the driver installed is the full-feature driver.
After completing these steps, check if the "Fast Draft" option has reappeared.
