Stupidly allowed a firmware upgrade to happen and now my 3rd part carts are showing as blocked as non-HP chip detected.
All attempts to downgrade using various downloads have failed.
Using USB connection it shows printer and allows me to proceed with downgrade but fails after about 15 mins, doing nothing to the printer.
Using network / wifi it shows the printer as Not Applicable.
My device is no longer under warranty so HP should not really be allowed to stop me using 3rd party cartridges.
I have no need for high quality printing. Only print kids school work. Cannot afford HP extortionate ink prices.
Cheaper to dump printer and buy a new one each time, how is this helping the environment.
Sorry y for the rant but this has really vexed me.

Hey, Luf! I posted on the same thing about 4 weeks ago, and they haven't replied to me yet. I just posted again a few minutes ago. I agree with you completely. HP was sued some years back for doing the same thing...
