How to stop the HP Smart app from constantly running, spinning on my desktop computer.  I uninstalled it from my cell phone.  This didn't happen until I install the HP Smart App on my cell phone.  help??

I wonder if the two events are related --  might be -- lots of things are possible.

 

-- What? --

It is not a foregone conclusion that installing -- or uninstalling -- the HP App on your Mobile device (phone) would kill or disrupt the installed HP Smart application in Windows.

 

Can you "X" out of the spinning, hanging, twirling HP Smart application?

 

That is, is there at least a white application box or a spinning circle displayed on the computer screen that lets you stop the app?

 

If you cannot interrupt, cancel, or stop the HP Smart App,

If you are running Windows with an Administrator style account,

Then

You can kill the HP Smart Process in the Task Manager

OR

Restart your computer and log in

 

-- Not enough? --

Restart the printer, too.

 

 

-- What else? --

  • If you are running High Contrast or “Dark Mode” and the app will not open at all, try switching to None (for contrast) or “Light” for mode. 
  • After the application opens, set up the printer –
  • Later, if you wish to do so, try setting the mode back to your preferred setting.

Reminders -- Initial Connection

  • Your Mobile device (tablet, phone) must be on the same network as the printer.
  • On that mobile device, Location Services and Bluetooth should both be switched ON

 

-- Be Aware –

Any HP application you install should be sourced from “HP”.

 

What?  Fakes have been discovered on at least one Mobile App Store –

Check who is providing the application >> “HP Inc.”

If you can’t tell, ask or use the Homepage method (if using Windows) to download and install the HP Smart application.

  • If asked enter the printer’s PIN number – The default PIN might be located on the back or inside the printer (ink access area).

  • “Advanced” / EWS can also be opened using your Browser:   Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
