If I want the printer to print, I have to unplug it and turn back on.  I can't find the scanner.

Hi @cme4cbl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning the printer on.
  • Ensure you're plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet to avoid power strip issues.

Check for Firmware Update:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current printers drivers:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    • Find the HP printer software, select it, and click Uninstall.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Download and install the latest printer drivers from the HP Drivers & Software page.

Printing Preferences:

  • Check printer preferences and make sure the printer is set to default:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP printer and select Set as default printer.

HP Smart App Installation:

  • Install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store. This app provides easy access to the printer's scanning functionalities.
  • Open the HP Smart app and follow the instructions to add your printer.

Windows Scan Utility:

  • Use the Windows Scan app which can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store if not already installed.
  • Open the Windows Scan app and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 to start scanning.

Scanner Driver Installation:

  • Ensure the scanner drivers are correctly installed:
    • Go to Device Manager.
    • Expand Imaging devices and check if your HP scanner appears. If not, reinstall the drivers from the HP website.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP Support website.
  • Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix scanning issues.

I hope this helps.
