Hi,

A Scanner Failure is an hardware failure. it have nothing to do with your operating system change..

Follow these steps and see if that may help,

else it will require servicing the device or getting a new one..:

I appreciate your reply, thank you.  I tried the your suggested procedures and still got the same error message.  I HAD neglected to mention previously, that when I press cancel  then the printer gets hung up and Blinks the power light saying cancel cancel cancel. The only way to stop the cancel message is to disconnect printer from the power. All this happened only after I reinstalled the printer on my new Mac book Pro in December. Maybe this is just a coincidence???

Yes, this is just a coincidence..

Such an hardware mechanism failure cannot be caused in any way by a software change, it's just happend at a neatby timeframe..
