To understand you correctly, the original post was about you not being able to scan, so it that resolved now?

Are you able to scan after performing the steps provided n my previous post?

About the second issue where you are not able to print two-sided automatically, this is a driver issue on Win 10 PCs.

Install the printer using TCP/IP port:

  1. On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
  2. Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
  3. Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
  4. Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless icon on the printer screen
  5. Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
  6. Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
  7. Try printing.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.

To scan, use the HP Smart app.

Let me know how this goes.

Hi @HERB274

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Installing the printer using the TCP/IP address will not provide you with the full-featured functionality. It only provides printing capabilities.

Kindly install the HP full-featured driver on the PC to print and scan from the PC

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing and scanning.

For more info on how to scan, kindly refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I was able to install the printer and scanner but I still have a problem. When I select "printer preferences" I still don't have the option of automatically printing in duplex. The only choice is manually". I have been able to print automatically in duplex. also, I installed the printer with an ethernet connection, how do I switch to wireless?

Thank you,  Herb Hall

is there anyway to just install the scanner? I assume that if I remove the printer with the Windows 10 problem, I will also uninstall the scanner.

Kumar- that solved my printing issue on my Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M281fdw. Have been researching, reinstalling drivers, deleting spools, etc. Thank you !!!
