Printer was working fine for a couple months then it stopped working with an error message I couldn't cross reference in any online error lists.  I removed the device from my computer and now the printer won't fully start up after unplugging and replugging a few times.  Only 2 of 7 dots darken during the start up process and the printer does not continue to reboot.  My computer and the HP Smart app cannot connect to it wirelessly as the the blue antenna light does not light up on the printer.  It appears stuck and something is not right.  The only things showing on the display are the hp logo and the 2 darkened dots.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you Echo_Lake for trying to help me!  I appreciate your concern!  I followed your directions carefully and when I plugged the power cord back into the printer, immediately all lights - the power button light, the house/home light, the question mark light, and the blue antenna light - all started blinking and have not stopped.  The error code "OXB8C33B6C" has appeared on the digital display.  It's totally stuck.  So, unfortunately, we're not there yet.  Again, I appreciate your help, but this is so upsetting....  Hopefully, you have another approach to try.

Thank you for posting back.

In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can clear the error message.

Follow this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-5200-all-in-one-printer-series/14095737/model/1409... in order to complete the troubleshooting steps.

And, also you can try this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-5200-all-in-one-printer-series/14095737/model/1409...

Note: You can skip the printer hard reset. If you've completed all the steps and if it did not resolve the issue, service the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
