Cannot Find Driver for laserjet 3030 pcl 5

Product Name: laserjet 3030
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

If someone could direct me to the webpage that contains the driver for laserjet 3030 pcl 5, I'd be grateful.  I've been all over the "HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads" webpage without success. That webpage contains a driver for pcl 6, but that doesn't seem to help. (I've downloaded it and tried it anyway without success.)

HP's webpage -- https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04324001-- states, "HP UPD 6.1.0 is the last release of UPD to include PCL5," but I've not been able to find UPD 6.1.0.

Hi,

You may download the latest UPD PCL 5 release from below link:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/UPD/hp-upd-6.1.0.20062/upd-pcl5-x64-6.1.0.20062.exe

Re: Cannot Find Driver for laserjet 3030 pcl 5

Thanks for the link to pcl 5 driver, but after dowloading and installing the driver, nothing has changed.  Under "Devices and Printers," Windows 10 categorizes the printer under "Unspecified" (instead of "Printers") and identifies the printer as  "hp LaserJet 3030."  When I right click on "Unspecified" and then select "Properties" and then "Hardware," the "Device Functions" box lists "HP LaserJet 3030 (DOT4USB)". Under "Device Function Summary," it says that "This device is working properly." When I click on the properties button at the bottom, "Device status" says "No drivers are installed for this device." Suggestions?

Re: Cannot Find Driver for laserjet 3030 pcl 5

Hi,

As I can see by both the UPD and Windows 10 compatibility list, your printer is supported by the HP UPD with a network connection only, not with a USB connection:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04324001

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04675396

Please try it with an ethernet connectiona nd check if you may see any difference.

If that doesn't help please try following the steps below and check:

**Be aware that if you have other printers installed on your PC, those will need to be reinstalled too once completing these steps.

1. Ensure the printer is disconnected, remove any instance of it from Devices and Printers.

2. Restart your PC.

3. Click the Windows logo + the R keys at the same time to launch the run dialog.

4. type printui.exe /s and press OK.

5. Open the drivers tab.

6. remove any listed HP printer, be sure to select the 2nd option to remove both the driver and its package.

7. Backup your registry prior making any registry changes:
     https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03485724
8. Update your registry using the Reg file below (that will change some printer related policies for your PC):
     https://www.dropbox.com/s/avbv56zdgwv7600/kernel.reg?dl=1
9. Right click the Start menu and select Run.
     Type Services.msc and press OK.
Locate and stop the Print Spooler service
10. Browse to c:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers.
     Rename W32X86 to W32x86.old
     Rename x64 to x64.old
Note: if any of these folders fail to rename reboot your PC and then Continue following the steps starting from Step 4...
11. Restart your computer.
12. Install below dot 4 communication driver:

        https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL44939/fp-148007-1/Dot4x64.msi

13. Connect the printer with a USB and check.

Please let me know the results,
Shlomi

Re: Cannot Find Driver for laserjet 3030 pcl 5

ShlomiL, thanks for the response. I've been out of town; but I'm back now to try to resolve this.

1. Regarding the ethernet cable option, my computer has only one ethernet port connected to a simple modem. Does this mean I have to now buy a router (after figuring out which router is compatible with my internet service provider)?

2. Hooking up this printer wasn't a problem with my other computer, which used a simple USB connection. I downloaded the software from HP's website years ago. But that machine ran on Windows 7.  Is the fact that my new computer runs on Windows 10 the problem?
