Hi @Sefirot43,

Good Day!! Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums. I reviewed the post about the printer not printing after a recent windows 10 update. It will be a delight to assist you. 🙂

Spectacular understanding and commendable description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂  You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂 Grat troubleshooting also.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to make a few copies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer to eliminate hardware issues with the printer?
  • Did you update the printer firmware?

For starters please make a few copies directly from the printer. Ideally, it should copy fine.

If it does please uninstall the printer completely by following these steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.

Then install the full feature printer software and drivers from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-Photosmart-C4600-All-in-One-Printer-ser...

Hope this helps.   I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll always be there to assist you always. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Good Morning David,

1. I tested the printer without communication with the computer and printed two copies without problem

2. Where can I find the firmware upgrade for this printer?

Hi @Sefirot43,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand you have copying and it seems to have worked. This clearly indicates that it's not a hardware issue, moreover, there is no firmware update available for your printer, so I would suggest the next step would be to uninstall and reinstall the full feature software.

Please do perform the steps suggested in the previous post and get back to us with the results for further assistance.

Hello,

I already did all that and when I run the setup it stops at step 6/8.

Regards.

@Sefirot43

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that you are unable to install the printer driver.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • Clean the temporary files.
  • Press windows + R , Run windows will open.
  • Type %temp% and hit enter.
  • Temp windows will open.
  • Select all files and delete.
  • Then uninstall and reinstall the driver.
  • While installing the driver connect the printer with USB cable.

Let me know how it goes.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help,

Please click the "Accept as Solution" button and the "Thumbs Up".

Let me know how you make out.

Cheers

Hello,

Thank you all for your continuing advise but I have decided to drop Windows 10 and return to Windows 7 that I already did.

Too much hassle to get things working in W10, not only your printer but other hardware as well.

Now I have all thing running the way they were supposed to be from the begining.

Thank you very much indeed.
