HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

Printer is Wireless

Downloaded the latest printer driver from the HP web site. When I run as administrator, it gets to checking for printer and doesn't do anything. Waited at least 10 minutes.

When I run it normally, it gets to the next screen and asks for the IP of the printer, and then gets to the next "checking" phase and it hangs up. Once again, waited at least 10 minutes.

Turned off the Windows Firewall completely. Still did not work. Plugged in the USB cable and it fails to detect the printer.

I am able to install just the basic printer driver and print just fine (wirelessly) but we want to set up the printer for scanning too.

I can ping the printer. I tried rebooting the laptop multiple times to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Try this :

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Let us know if that works.
