HP Deskjet 2540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I moved from Sky to virgin recently and I am having problems getting my printer to comunicate with the system.

My Hub is a Virgin Media Hub 3.0 and WiFi. My PC comunicates via Powerline 1000 Model PL1000, I have good internet connection and my email is operating fine.

After many frusttrating hours I decided rightly or wrongly to to remove all software with ref to the printer and start over.

I still get a ' Insallation Failed'  at the final part. I try the sugested procedure by following the instructions from the HP site

but no Joy

the printer is a HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One-Series

Model A9U22B

Help!!

Hello, @Journeyman1 – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I understand that you are having issues while connecting and installing the printer after you changed your ISP. Let’s try the steps mentioned below to try and solve this issue:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL48442/al-117577-4/DJ2540_188.exe to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂
