HP Deskjet 4729 all in one wireless printer.
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello community, I have a HP Deskjet 4729 all in one wireless printer. I have installed all the particular drivers and softwares required for the printer from the hp website. But the problem is, the Color and B&W printing option under the paper/quality tab in the printing preferences has disappeared. I have checked in the advanced options whether I had enabled the "print in grayscale" option by mistake, but I am unable to find that option either. I have checked the software and it is up to date. The printer prints fine in color when I print a test page. I am unable to find the color or b&w option even when i try to print from other softwares such as MS word, etc. When i try to print a color page from any software,(ms word, PDF files, ms excel, etc), the printout comes in black and white. Both of my cartridges have enough ink in them. When i try to scan a document manually in the printer in color format, it comes out pretty well without any issues. But when i try to print a document from my laptop, i am unable to print in color as the color and b&w option has disappeared. The printer is connected wirelessly to the laptop. The printer prints fine in color when i use the hp smart app from my mobile. But i am unable to print in color from my laptop using the software which i downloaded from your HP website. Please tell me how should i get back the color and B&W option in the printing preferences of my printer. I am using windows 10(64 bit) and I have downloaded the correct drivers from your website respectively. please help me asap. I really need my prints in color. I have provided the screenshots below which will help you get the problem more clearly.

@Falcon24, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Now, download and install the full-featured software from here.

If the issue persists, try adding the printer using Windows Built-in drivers. Here is how you do it-

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

no. it's not working at all. and first of all, it isn't uninstalling completely. Your solutions have made it worser. When I try uninstalling it, it displays this:

I don't know what to do now. Now when i try installing the product driver again, there's no desktop icon, nor can I find the files in my C drive but the installation software says installation has completed. I even tried installing the driver from windows. but it was all in vain. and still, there's no option for choosing color and b&w in the printing preferences. Pleeeeeaasee i really need my printer software installed properly. Please send me an assistant who has deep knowledge in this stuff.

Restart the print spooler and try uninstalling the drivers-

Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.

Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.

Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.

Go to services again - Start the print spooler.

Now uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.

Let me know how this goes.

Hope this helps!
