Product: HP Deskjet 2542
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a trusty printer that used to print wirelessly, just bought a new Dell laptop with Windows 10 and can't print wirelessly any more. The test page says the printer is connected to my wireless network. My laptop is connected to my wireless network. Printing only happens with my USP connection. Any help out there?

Hi,

 

Have you installed printer software and drivers to your new computer yet ? You have to do that first. If yes, please download an run the following tool:

      http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

It may fix the problem for you. If not, post back full error message(s).

It says: Selected product is not connected. Please select the method you want to use to connect to your product: USB/Network-wireless/Network-wired

 

I'd like to print wirelessly.

Hi,

 

Sounds like you have not installed printer software and drivers to your computer. Please download and install the following software and drivers:

 

   http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL48442/al-117577-4/DJ2540_188.exe

 

During the installatio process, please select wireless and follow onscreen instructions.

 

Note: printers from 2540 to 2549 use same software.

Well, unfortunately, even this latest download didn't work. The computer is still unable to locate the printer, even though both are on the same network/router. Darn. I even disabled my firewall protection temporarily and tried again. No go.
