I have a HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-one printer. When I bought it , the driver used to recognize the printer and install it so that I can directly use the printer from computer. Recently I formatted my computer and again installed the driver from HP website but now the driver does not wirelessly detect my printer and I am unable to use it through my computer. Also I cant seem to find the usb cable and anyhow connecting through usb everytime is quite inconvenient when there are 'wireless features'. So basically the so called e-All-in-one features are of no use for my computer. I cant print, scan or copy from my computer though its possible through tab/iPad.

I even tried it on a different computer, but still the driver does not detect, depite providing the printer IP address and the host name.

I have tried the driver on windows 10 as well as windows 7.

@TechTrick, thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.

This issue could occur if the latest drivers are not installed or the firmware is not updated.

Please follow the links below to uninstall and reinstall the software and update the firmware:

1. Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)

2.  Full Feature Software and Drivers for Win 10

3. Firmware Update

Let me know if this works.

I hope you have a good day ahead.

None of the solutions you mentioned worked and still my printer is undetectable through driver.

Sadly none of the solutions worked again. The firmware update software also does not detect the printer.
I even bought the USB cable for the printer but still the driver shows no result. Again tried it on a different computer but same disappointment.

As far as I can recall, the printer usually downloads and install the lastest software OTA and this process occurred many times.

I guess there is some problem with the driver because the computer/laptop detects and even adds/installs (wirelessly as well as USB cable) the printer through settings but obviously for printing and its various functions it requires the driver.

This issue could occur if there is a driver conflict.

Please follow the link to install the basic drivers from the link: Basic Drivers

If the issue still persists, then you need to contact the HP Phone Support at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp

I am sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your time and prompt responses.

I have finally resolved the issue.

What I did was,

1) Added the printer through the computer settings under 'add printers/devices'

2) Once it was installed, clicked on my printer option and selected 'manage'

3) under that I selected 'printer properties' and then the 'advanced' tab.

4) Initially the driver installed was C-class driver but then I clicked on the option of 'New Driver', where windows got a list of all printers, their companies and their selected drivers.

5) I selected to install the normal driver as stated.

6) After that I did the same procedure through the HP downloaded drive and this time my printer was detected wirelessly and well through usb.

7) Repeted the same process on a different computer running windows 7 and voila it worked again.

So finally the problem was solved.

But I do recommend checking your HP drivers, whether any packages are missing.
