I recently had a new hard drive installed in my Gateway desk top. I have a HP 3970 scanner which will not work now due to no drivers being available. I have run the tool on the HP website which says no drivers available. I always thought the drivers for a device such as this scanner were on the install disc that came with it. I I have run it with no success. Yes I know this stuff is old but I want to be sure I have checked all my options before I buy a new one.

the scanner is not supported on Windows 10.

While no drivers are provided by the manufacturer, you may try the 3rd party Vuescan application which should work with your scanner with its own drivers:
