I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

@cheron-z

where is my "private message" to solve this problem?

So i did not receive a response from HP tonight related to their firmware update in which they removed our right as a customer to purchase our ink from other vendors.  I refuse to give HP another dime on any technology device going forward.  I went out this evening and purchased a new Canon color laser printer.  I was thoroughly impressed with Best Buy who originally sold me the HP 8710 a year ago.  They were completely understanding of my frustration with HP and gave me a store credit towards the new printer.  That is what customer service is about!!!.  HP could learn a few lessons from Best Buy.  I thought about selling the HP at a garage sale and then i thought :"I don't want HP to get any ink income from this printer ever again"  I will pocket my loss for the sake of principle and move on to another company who can now earn my business going forward!

I have the same issue with HP. My HP OJP 8740 is the last  HP product I will buy. I have over $100.00 of useless non-HP ink now. They really know how to screw their customers!!!

HP Recommended

Only info you need to know it's a standard HP OJP 8740 inkjet printer with the latest firmware update. Now all my non-HP inks are useless. You lost this customer (me) for good when you play these silly games with the firmware updates.  When it's time for a new printer, Epson will be my choice from now on!!!!!!!!!

Please send me instructions to downgrade my firmware. It is unacceptable that non-hp cartridges can't be used in my printer. HP Officejet Pro 870.

To reiterate the comments of the community - I will not buy HP products with such a restriction on the ink!

Asmita,

You fols have sent the same email saying "I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message ...." AND IT NEVER COMES!

Why then would I click "Accept as Solution" OR "Kudos" when YOU and HP have done NOTHING to rectify or fix this nasty situation and more and more people are being infected by your firmware update and IF YOU READ the messages they are all very UPSET AT HP and threaten NOT TO BUY HP AGAIN.

Don't send me and this group anohter post like that until someone with some power to fix the situation earns their pay.

I too have an 8710 and I too have experienced this same HP bug regarding third party inks. I too was upgraded to the latest firm and now have many unusable ink cartridges. Please send me the fix for this. The firmware on your site does nothing. You would think this would be fixed after all the bad PR and that it is now Dec 2019.
