HP Photosmart Premium C309 printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

It's funny, I can access the printer from my iPad (hpsmart), but not from my old laptop.  On the laptop, I uninstalled all HP s/w and reinstalled the entire photosmart package.  The install of the printer will fail even when I enter a static IP address, and that causes windows to fault.  I've added and removed the printer via Windows many times, as well as updating the driver.

Should I be able to see the printer on the network somewhere?  At a loss of what to do next, any suggestions?

Hi @Arzach

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printer driver issue.

Download and install HP Print and Scan Doctor, it is a Windows tool to fix printer issues.

If the issue still persists, try re-installing the printer driver -

1. In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".

2. Look for HP Printer software.

3. Right-click to uninstall.

4. In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.

5. In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.

6. Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7. Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).

8. Click on the "Drivers" tab.

9. Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.

10. Select Ok.

11. Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.

12. Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.

13. Restart the computer.

14. Download and install the software and drivers from here for Windows 10 (64-bit).

15. Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Asmita,

I've uninstalled, reinstalled all the hp c309a software twice, tried using the scan doctor and after entering the static ip address, it eventually told me "the ip address entered is either incorrect or its from a different wireless network that has the same name as your network". I was able to print to this printer without faulting, but it just sat in the queue and eventually showed an error.

Note - The scan doctor scanned for the "product" and did find the printer along with the correct ip address.  But it couldn't connect to it and gave me the message above.

I tried removing the HP driver with the "printui.exe /s" command, but it says it's in use.  And i disabled my anti-virus software just in case.

Hi Asmita,

After reinstalling everything and it was still showing up as "offline", I decided to reboot the router just in case...  That did it.

Thanks for your help.
