HP 4535 - windows 10 pro - ver. 1709

DeskJet 4535
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After update Windows 10 to version 1709 I can't print anymore in color....I can't even choose color print. I install latest driver in computer and on printer. Before updating windows works everything OK.

Where is the problem?

Thanks for any suggestion.

@Valter69

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding problems with not printing in color. I will be delighted to assist you here. Superb description of the issue. Kudos to you for that. :)

For better clarity, and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you replace all the cartridges and check again?
  • Did you make copies in color directly from the printer and check if it copies correctly?

For now please try these steps:

  • Please make 2 copies in color directly from the printer without any communication from the computer.
  • If it fails to copy in black please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://hp.care/2GvnX0b to troubleshoot print quality issues.

Replace all the ink cartridges and check again. This might fix the issue as long as the printer's hardware is faulty. Contact Hp phone support to do this.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:http://hp.care/2r9wSvP

  • Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
  • Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
  • Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
  • Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

If it copies correctly in color, then uninstall and reinstall the printer software by following these steps:

  • Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
  • Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
  • Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
  • Click on print server properties.
  • You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
  • Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
  • Restart the PC.
  • Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
  • Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
  • It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
  • If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
  • Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
  • Restart the PC again.

Then download the latest full feature driver from https://hp.care/2JcHMal and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

  • This should fix the issue for you.
  • If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: http://hp.care/2o3acvH
  • This will resolve the issue for you.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient.Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. ;)

Thank you for your answer, but that did not solve the problem. I can't choose color or black-white printing. Look at my printscreens, one is from Windows 10 and one from Windows 7 (the same printer and network).

The language is slovene, but you will understand.

Windows 10:

Windows 7:

Windows 7.JPG

There is no "color" button.

On my third computer, I installed "clean" Windows 10 pro on a new disc and after that I also installed the drivers for the printer ...the same result.

I think that the problem is in version 1709 of Windows 10....

Thank you and have a nice day.

Valter

@Valter69

Thank you for replying with the results.

As @Raj1788 is out of the office today, I'm replying to you. I truly appreciate your patience and efforts.

I suggest you to uninstall the existing drivers and then install the basic printer driver via this link: https://hp.care/2JfwPoB

Once the drivers are installed successfully, please check if it allows to print is color. If the problem persists then you may install the inbuilt printer drivers from the Windows operating system. The steps mentioned in "Step 3: Install the print driver with the Add a Printer wizard" from this HP document should help: https://hp.care/2igKeU1

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know how it goes.

All the best! :)

No, it's the same. Problem continues. I think the problem is in the operating system Windows 10 with latest update.

The same problem in the other topic....

Thank you for the reply,

Let's try creating a new account on windows and install the printer and try to print to double check if its a problem with the operating system.

Use this link: https://hp.care/2jNPZJV to Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

Click on this link: https://hp.care/2JcHMal to download the Full Feature Software and Drivers.

Let me know if this helps you out.

Take care.

Cheers:)

@Valter69

Thank you for the reply,

I see that you have not answered my question(Did you make copies in color directly from the printer and check if it copies correctly?)

If copy in color is working fine it defines that it is an issue with the operating system.

As the last solution, you may have to reinstall the operating system.

You can use this link: https://hp.care/2t2d0IY Reset Your Computer to Factory Settings

Hope this helps you!

Keep me posted, have a great day!

Take care:)

My english is not so good but there is my situation:

1. computer - Windows 7 professional - printer work correctly,

2. computer - before update to Windows 10 built 1709, printer work correctly,

3. computer - new disk, new Windows 10 built 1709 - printer didn't print in color.

So reset computer (number 3) to Factory Settings will not work, beause it's on factory setings.

I made copies in color directly from the printer, copies are correctly.

Solution? Buy a new printer, but not HP anymore! Sorry...

Or wait for new version of Windows 10, and hope, that will solved the problem with HP printer.

@Valter69

Thanks for the reply.

As you told the printer copies fine in color.

It clearly says the printer is working fine. There is no problem with the printer.

This is a problem with the operating system.

As the last solution, you may have to reinstall the operating system.

You can use this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00006110 Reset Your Computer to Factory Settings

OR

I would personally suggest you contact our HP phone support for one on one interaction.

If your product is out of warranty, then remember to choose the paid options to get the tech support number.

They might have multiple options to help you on this.

Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp

Step 3. Enter the product number or select to auto detect

Step 4. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
