Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer is connect to Cpu via usb cable.  Computer prints and copies fine, but won't scan.  When I looked at the printer in my control panel it says "Needs troubleshooting" and "Driver error"  Thanks for any help you can provide.  I'm not a real techie, but can follow simple instructions.

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are unable to scan via USB cable on HP Photosmart 5520 printer.

I would like to help you resolve this issue.

  • Restart the computer and printer.
  • Check the USB connection.
  • Run the Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
  • Set Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) dependencies.
