HP's feature to lock out generic cartridges was recently uploaded via automatic updatde, otherwise the printer was working well-Big Problem, I have severe symptoms for Covid-19 and have self quarentined.  I have been trying to fix the printer which will enable me to take a form to the Covid Collection Site tomorrow, but no dice-all recommended fixes have not only not worked, but the small LED display has locked up and locked me out.  Secondarily, my employer has asked me for copies of doctors notes and the script for the Covid testing.

 

I am a capitalist, but loading software that forces use of ink that is 5x market cost, totally unacceptable.  Can anyone help un-jam this?  I will buy a brother or other brand when I am back on my feet, but my God, my healthcare and sick leave will be delayed because of this sneaky fix, I will never be okay with that.

Asmita, I do not have the $100 required for new HP printer cartridges and the latest software update has renedered the previously working cartridges unusable.  Every tech product I have is HP, but this crosses a line, can I undo this mess or should I buy a new printer?
