HP ENVY 5540
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP ENVY 5540 printer will not accept Devices Setting "Print on Both Sides" but continually resets to "Print on Both Sides Manually". Why?

@DtownLegend

Please try

(a) go into printer properties; device settings; installable options and change automatic configuration to off;

(b) change automatic duplex to installed.

This will update printer to print double sided automatically.

Hope this helps

Regards.

Hello Banhien,

I repeatedly tried to set the automtic duplex to "Installed" following your instructions but every time I clicked the ok button and went to printing preferences it again showed "Print on Both Sides Manually".

I finally resolved the issue with the Print and Scan Doctor by selecting the Uninstall and Reinstall option and after the computer rebooted using the CD that came with the printer to install the software off the CD.  WHY WAS THAT EVEN NECESSARY?
