HP Envy 5020

Hi,

I recently purchased an HP Envy 5020 series printer. I have installed it onto my home wireless network ok but nothing will print from my laptop. I get a constant error message of 'driver unavailable'. I have installed the latest drivers available from the HP site a few times and updated my operating system. I can successfully print from my phone and tablet.

Thanks for any help

Hello,

If you would link to double check the driver page for your unit the link is as follows. Maybe re-installing the drivers would help.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-5000-all-in-one-printer-series/14095644/model/14095648/...

Also if you do install drivers it is recommended that you shut your unit down and boot it back up. This is often required for drivers to take effect.

If the drivers are not the issue then it would be best for you to contact HP Support in your region directly:

  1. HP Worldwide online: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
  2. HP Phone support worldwide: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

I have installed the driver a few times through this method. It goes through the process and says it was successful at the end but it still comes up as 'driver unavailable' on the printer list.

Hello,

If you can print from your phone and tablet but not your notebook and you have installed the drivers as well as shut down your unit for them to take effect than the issue might not be the drivers but a settings issue. The setting issues could be the notebook not allowing communication with the printer or the network not allowing communication. In either scenario we recommend you to contact your local support team for a more detailed troubleshooting. Please see the following information.

Hi @wl2205

Appreciate your efforts.

So even now, after the installation it still fails. I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

•    Go to http://hp.care/2bYE4kP and follow the "Step 3" for instructions.

Let me know if that helps. Good luck!

Hope this helps.
