Our HP office jet pro 8600 Plus's control panel is flashing a white screen w/message
"Please turn Printer Off and then On." This is after we turn it on and it goes thru the normal steps. When we turn it off and back on, it then flashes a blue screen for a sec with the Error Message  B86F3F54 .  Has anyone had this problem. We have many ink cartridges for this and hate to chunk it. Its been a great printer.  We had a storm and lightening hit but the surge protector saved our computer.  The printer was plugged into a wall outlet.

A bit of a long shot, but the troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve the error on your Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.  If that does not resolve the issue your printer will likely require repair.

If there was a close lightning strike in the area the most likely part that would be damaged would be the power supply.  The part is available from third party sellers for under $20, if my Officejet Pro 8600+ had a similar failure I would probably try replacing the power supply.
