When I attempt to scan a paper, and hit hp, then HP Solution Center, a message pops up that states "no device detected, HP Solution Center will close." Yet, when I print from a software, the printer does so.
I have downloaded the latest software and drivers, but to no value.

I tried doing what you said. When I got to the part about one of two programs, there was one that had a suffix (Local) and the other said (Manifest). Since the Manifest was the only one that had any size, I clicked it and then was asked as to what program to use to open it. I didn't know so I clicked the option for the machine to find one. I got sent to "Free File Folder", but when I went there the only option was to download some "PC Register Cleaner" type program. Not wanting to go there, I exited.
