HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one. It worked perfectly until I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Despite the fact that the printer is listed as Windows 10 compatible, I am no longer able to print duplex. When I try I get the message 'Automatic Two-Sided Printing Module Missing".  In an earlier post I was advised to make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled as follows:

Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right-click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

I did this and restarted the computer but it had no effect.  I also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer from scratch again with no change.  Any help will be appreciated.

@Swegnson2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that duplex printing is not working after upgrading to Windows 10.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Add the printer using IP address -

1. Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.

2. Choose “Printers & scanners“.

3. Select “Add a printer or scanner“.

4. Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.

5. Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.

6. Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.

7. Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.

8. Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for the reply. However I am confused. There is no problem with the computer recognizing the printer. Are you suggesting that I remove the printer and try to add it by a different method?

@Swegnson2,

Yes, I want you to add the printer using the IP address of the printer and check whether the issue is resolved.

Wow, that was a wild ride. Either there were some implicit steps in your recommendation that I missed because they were implicit, or something. I started by removing the existing printer. I had to turn it off for it to be removed. When I turned it back on to get the IP address and Hostname the HP Installer came up. I allowed it to proceed and it took me all over the place. To make a long story short, after an uninstall and restart I was able to follow your direction and lo and behold I can now print duplex.

@Swegnson2,

Perfect, I am really glad to hear that!

If any other questions arise, please feel free to write back to me.
