How to add wireless network HP 6970 printer to Win 10 computer

          If Win 10 won’t install driver

 

Go to HP website and download up to date HP6970 printer driver

          It will be an .exe file-----OJ6970_Basicx64_40.12.1161.exe

 

Find IP address for your wireless, network printer

          Should be listed in “Wireless Summary” on your printer

          Write it down

 

Download and install:  7-zip to your computer   https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

 

Create a new folder on C: drive-----name it:    1. 6970

          Paste HP6970 printer driver into this folder

 

Right click printer driver file-----7-Zip----Extract here

          This will extract lots of folders and files

          Later you will use a setup information file---autorun.inf

 

Got to Control Panel---Devices and Printers

          Add Printer

          Click “The printer I have isn’t listed”

          Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings

          Create a new port

          Type of port----Standard TCP/IP Port---Next

 

Type printer host name or IP Address

          Host name or IP address----Put in your printer IP address

          UNCHECK  “Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use”

 

Install the printer Driver----Have Disk

          Install from Disk

 

Browse to C:/1.6970 folder

          Select:   autorun.inf-----ok

 

Install printer driver

          Select your printer----Next

 

Which version of driver do you want to use?

          Replace current driver----Next

 

Enter a name for your printer

          Ex:   XXXX-YYYY----Next

 

Select

Do not share this printer

          or

Share this printer so that others on your network can find and use it

 

Set as Default

Select  if you want it to be default printer----Finish
