I have a new PC with Windows 10 64 bit. I wanted to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart 7520 so it would work with the new OS. I down loaded the drivers and when the down load was finished I attempted to print a photo just to test it as was suggested. The printer would not recognize the 4x6 photo paper and would only print on the paper in the main tray which is 8x10 printer paper. I tried the repair software suggested and that did not work. So I just deleted all the down load or software from my system and now I want to start all fresh if possible. I bought this printer in 2014 and just hope that I don't have to buy a new one, for a while.
Should I have first installed the software that came with this printer even though it only works on Win. 7, 8, and 8.1?
Also is there any step by step instructions on how to get this printer to function with new drivers?
Any help anyone can give that will keep me and a credit card away from buying a new printer will be greatly appreciated.

The Full Feature Software should indeed work with Windows 10.
The software is not very "smart" compared to newer versions (unfortunately not available for this printer hardware) -- nonetheless, you should be able to use it to print on 4x6 inch photo paper.
Download, save, and install the software.
When the installation is complete, Restart the computer and log in
If you have never done so, consider installing the Firmware
Reminder: Read all the instructions before installing / updating Firmware
If the problem is one of configuration (settings / adjustments / instructions to set up the job), consider using a software that helps reduce issues by providing a "step by step" environment.
Download, save, and install:
Example – One Borderless Image on 4X6 inch photo paper
NOTE: Borderless may -- or may not -- be available on your printer model

In Section Edit > Click once or twice on the opened photo >
White box opens listing Edit Options:

(Under the name of your printer)
Open Printer Settings >
Verify / Adjust setup
- Printing Shortcut > Photo Printing (with or without borders depending on your printer model)
- tab Paper / Quality> Media Type > HP Advanced Photo Paper (or other)
- Advanced> Size of Paper > 4 x 6 inch (10x15 cm)
